2024 Northland Champs

An ominous start to the event with the wind swinging through 150deg and inconsistent breeze.

Eventually got underway dealing with the shifting breeze as best as we could which led to some interesting results.

Breeze varied all day with everything from the very bottom of A rig up to near the top of B rig in the gusts.

Hopefully the wind settles into a firm direction tomorrow so we can get a few more races in tomorrow.

A much better Day 2.

The wind settled in from the Southerly direction overnight but was still variable from lower A to Mid B in the gusts, which made for some good wipeouts.

After only 4 races yesterday we got though another 7 races today with some improving through the day and others falling back a bit, with lots of little battles throughout the fleet.

Overall a very good event after the trying conditions on the first day.

Thanks to all who participated, volunteered and assisted during the event.

Congrats to Ian Vickers on winning and Roddy Booth in 2nd place with Ian Power in 3rd.

Russell sailing

8 sailors turned out to sail at the Russell yacht club area . Some good sailing was had by all

Unfortunately Carl and Richard both had boat damage and withdrew from the last 3 races.

Results from day 1 over 10 races are attached below. Day 2 turned out to be a non advent with a

fickle wind from many changes in direction but a fun day all the same.
